These are actual incidents that happened to individuals at Achor….. that was noted on Neighborhood posts Agree they let my husband smother in his sleep. Fitbit watch said 0% oxygen and no heart rate at 3:18am and didn’t check on him until 7am. (His cannula fell out.) Anchor Rehab is awful. I wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemy! I went there after back surgery. They didn’t have nor would they attempt to get my pain medication. I was there from Wednesday to Saturday morning when my son and daughter in law came to break me out. Anchor was HORRIBLE. Heard women screaming all night. It was almost to the point of traumatizing! sister fell out of the bed repeatedly and they don’t keep any end of life medications in stock . It was traumatizing.

The food is AWFUL here. All frozen and reheated with too much salt.

This place is horrible! My BigMa was doing so much better with intentions of being discharged on August 17th, but our worst nightmare came true. The nurses were giving her the wrong meds which caused her health to decline. Now, she will be discharged from Aiken Regional hospital and placed in hospice care. Anchor is to blame for my BigMa dying because of their negligence and malpractice! If you want your love one to live then take them somewhere else instead of Anchor!

Recently had to place my 90 yr old father at the facility post hip surgery. He was there for 2 weeks and most of the time it was a nightmare for him and his family. Thank goodness his family was able to be with him a large majority of the time to assist with his care, because if you pressed the call button it might be over an hour before anyone would check on you. Do to insurance, he has to have a roommate, even though we requested, and were willing to pay the additional fee for a private room. The furniture in the room was coming apart(they were working on replacing, but not soon enough). The only air conditioner( like a hotel room unit) in the room was on his side. We were told we had to keep it at or below 75, so he froze on his side and the roommate roasted on his side. It seemed like they could not keep staff, there were almost always agency nurses working, not consistent staff. We did have one CNA (Elizabeth Marie) that when she was there was very attentive and kind. The food was ok, but sometimes difficult for him to eat. One night dinner did not arrive until almost 10pm. The residents were not told why there was a delay, we ended up bringing my father something to eat because he thought just forgot him, and he never eats that late at night. When I mentioned it to the administrator the next day, she blew it off as a problem with the kitchen. I mentioned that no one communicated with the residents, and her only response was that she would pass it on. During our stay, my father had to go to a follow-up appointment with his surgeon. Anchor arranged for the transfer from the facility to the office. Going was ok, but when our appointment was done we had to call for pick up. After 30 minutes when we still had no pick up, I called again, they said they would be there in about 20 minutes, after 20 minutes, I called again, they were on the way, after another 30 minutes, I called Anchor. Anchor said they would call the transfer company. At the 2 hour mark, the office said they were closing and we had to wait in the office next to them. At about 3 hours and several more calls, I called my spouse to come hep get my father into our car and we transferred him back to the facility. I was furious and went immediately to the administer, who proceeded to tell me it wasn’t their fault, they contract with the transport company. We finally were released from anchor after about 2 weeks, and what a relief! I would never put a member of my family back in that facility or recommend anyone to place a loved one there.

Therapy staff was professional, food was decent and facility is clean; nursing staff was disappointing. We were so glad to get our loved one out of there.

Do not I repeat do not take your loved one here this place is horrible. My mother was in there for just a little over a week. She was in there because she was recovering from a surgery and needed to gain her strength back so she could come home, the staff never came when she called. The food was absolutely horrible. Her wound from surgery opened up after a fall, thank God, I got an ambulance and got her out of there or they would’ve killed her within a week.

I am/was a resident of this facility Not a post critical care facility. Not by a long shot!! Food is beyond bad! The bed was an ultra cheap adjustable bed. Beyond uncomfortable! Absolutely no individualized care! I’m a medical professional and this place is absolutely the bottom of the barrel. They have no right to call themselves a “post critical care” facility.

Staff is awful. My mom had open heartsurgery last Tuesday, got transferred her last night. Been left to pee herself twice in less than 24 hrs because nurses will NOT answer the call when she calls for them. I was there over 8 hrs today and not once did I see her nurse come in. She was sent here for rehab and has been left to rot in a bed. No one has helped her shower and apparently that only happens twice a week. I was told by a staff member that the 24/7 residents are treated worse. Im honestly scared for my mom to even be here. Im scared shes gonna try to take herself to the bathroom and shes going to fall or cause damage to her sternal wound. I can’t afford to keep calling out of work because people are refusing to do their job. Directors office had a sign on the door all day that she was busy and I made an unanswered phone call. She was encouraged to used this facility and apparently we made a huge mistake sending our loved one here. I’d give zero stars if it’d let me.

My family and I have tried to give Anchor Rehabilitation in Aiken the benefit of the doubt for several years, but after our most recent experience, I can no longer stay silent. My grandmother has been admitted to Anchor a few times over the past few years, usually after short hospital stays. Each time, we hoped the care would improve — but this last stay was heartbreaking. She was there for about two months and wasn’t eating, yet staff never seemed concerned enough to look deeper or help us understand why. We had to constantly advocate for her, schedule her specialist appointments ourselves, and push to make sure she received the care she needed. The communication between the nursing staff and doctors was extremely poor. Even when important instructions were clearly provided in advance, staff failed to follow through until we intervened. On multiple occasions, we were left scrambling to ensure she received her medication and transportation for critical tests. The final straw was when she began complaining of pain and visible swelling, and staff dismissed our concerns, saying she was “fine.” When we insisted on a hospital evaluation, we discovered she had a serious medical condition that could have been life-threatening. No family should have to fight this hard to get basic, compassionate care for their loved one. Based on our repeated experiences, I do not recommend this facility. Please do your research and ask tough questions before placing someone you love here.

This place is just down right disgusting the room and showers were so dirty I don’t even see how someone could stay at this place🤮. If you have any problems or concerns they just brush them under the rug and don’t even acknowledge them. Their food service here is slow and every time they bring the food out it’s always cold. Overall it’s nasty and they don’t even care about their employees.

The food and food service is terrible. I eat in my room until i can walk better and my food is always cold when they leave it for me. Sometimes I can get my plate reheated and other times they tell me they dont have a microwave. ? Most of the nursing staff is okay, some are excellent and others should not be nurses. Rehab is wonderful and since thats why I’m here, i try to just focus on that. Many, many improvements could be made.

My father (96) is in Anchor following surgery. His phone was lost for awhile and I have left messages with the nursing station that never get returned. He had a follow up with his surgeon that was missed even though I double checked prior to the appointment. I have received no information on his progress in rehab or his condition. The staff seems nice but very difficult to contact or have calls returned

4 weeks of h-e- double hockey sticks. Room floor dirty I had to go find a broom to sweep, put a diaper on my mother that could go to bedside pot with assistance but they told her she uses the pot too much. One of the male nurse with curly hair dropped her medicine and brought the same ones back because I helped him picked them up and bent one of the capsules to see if he would bring the same ones back and he did which they all went in the trash. A therapist reported to head nurse that a camera was in the room and I received a message to come remove it but prior to head nurse calling me demanding me to come remove it (which my mother told the therapist she has a camera in her room at HOME) she didn’t investigate and once I got there she claims it’s still be investigated and she’s trying to find out who made the report. They discharged my mom with no pain pills, no yellow folder with information in it that needed to go to in home nurse, nor wheelchair that was suppose to be given on discharged day . They called on Monday to tell me to come pick it up when she was discharged on Friday prior. My mom hit the help button and they took their time coming to assist her. Her roommate did not have help getting out the bed for 3 days. They suppose to get showers twice a week. My mother was there for 4 weeks and only received a shower twice and barely got washed up until I got there in the evenings. Thank you to Alton, the tall bald head male nurse, and the nurse that was on vacation towards the end of week last week (7-15). You three are passionate about your job and they need more people like you!!!!

There are some really helpful CNA’s here. One standout this weekend was Alton. Most of the CNA’s are also in nursing school. The physical and occupational therapists are really friendly and really great help as i get well.

The OTs and PTs were extremely helpful in getting me mobile again. Took their time to show me how to maneuver stairs and issues I faced in rural environment. One CNA in particular (Karen) was wonderful. Medication took FOREVER and was always difficult to obtain in a timely manner. Staff in general barely did their jobs. No inter-facility communication. Food was AWFUL. After I didn’t eat for about a week someone finally informed me I could order a salad. Housekeeping was very efficient and courteous. Would I recommend? No.

We’re truly pleased to hear that our Occupational and Physical Therapy teams were able to support your recovery and mobility, especially in preparing you for challenges specific to your home environment. We’re also grateful for your kind words about Karen and our housekeeping team — we’ll be sure to recognize them for their outstanding service. We regret that other aspects of your stay did not meet expectations. Timely medication delivery, clear communication, and quality dining options are essential parts of care, and we’re sincerely sorry that we fell short in these areas. Your feedback has been shared with the appropriate teams so that we can continue to improve the experience for all our patients. Thank you again for your honesty — both your compliments and your concerns help us grow. We wish you continued health and wellness in your recovery.
